The Difference Distance Makes

Distance can make a lot of things look the same. It distorts reality in a way that makes things unclear. We become unsure.

Are they wrestling or hugging?

Siblings or lovers?

Certain of who they are or scared to death of who they might be?

Careful with money or secretive with it?

I find it difficult to judge things from a distance. Too many times I’ve been deceived by the space between me and the source of my thoughts. Too many times I’ve been wrong.

Distance can make things look the same because it takes away our certainty. It’s why a long-distance relationship is so hard to keep up. It takes away each partner’s certainty of the other one’s faithfulness.

That’s the difference distance makes—a difference of certainty.

Have you ever been deceived by distance?

Ha!  Grayson, “distance” is the word for the day. Nicely done. My post this morning was called  The Dangers of Distance.  Yes, distance has a way of distorting things.

Yes in regards to distance from God.  If I am not walking close to Him then my perception of Him and His working in me and my life becomes uncertain.  Then I remember: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” and I re-focus and look to better walk with Him.  I draw deeper in His word.

I’ve been deceived multiple times by distance. There are people who you think live an enviable life until you peel back the layers. Then there are plenty of times where I’ve assumed the worst about someone until I got to know them.

Yep, I’m guilty of both of those. Thanks Loren.
